An elegant Cape Cod pub, the Wianno Grille
opened its doors in October 2005 with
the intent of combining a menu of unmatched
cuisine with an equally unmatched dining
atmosphere.
The back-lit exterior leads
you into a cozy interior, complete with
mahogany booths, marble bar tops, private
function room, and plasma screen televisions
throughout the restaurant. Wainscoting
adds warmth to the room, as does the large
brick fireplace and blue candles lit nightly
at every table. There is an original painting
of a Wianno Senior by local impressionist
Sam Barber on one wall, the wheel of a
boat on another and a half ship’s
model in the foyer.
The decor celebrates the famous Wianno
Seniors which were originally designed
by H. Manley Crosby in 1914 (the downstairs
function room is named after him). The
classic gaff rigged sloops were created
to sail in the shoal-ridden sailing grounds
common to the Cape and were a favorite
of three generations of Kennedys. The
boat became the standard for one-design
racing in the area and was the inspiration
for the name of the grille.
The dining is a delicate balance between
fine and casual. The fare is exquisite
using local organic ingredients. >>
